In light of FOX's June 15 announcement of plans to acquire Roku, we wanted to take a closer look at how Roku is performing relative to the broader U.S. streaming market.
As of May 2026, Antenna estimates Roku Apps and The Roku Channel together accounted for 24.4M U.S. SVOD Subscriptions — a 4.5% share of the market, up from 3.7% in Q2’24. Over the past two years, Roku's combined Subscriptions grew 40%, compared with 16% for the U.S. SVOD overall.

Zoom out to the broader distribution landscape, and Roku is the fastest-growing segment. According to Antenna estimates, between Q1’23 and Q1’26, Roku's share of total SVOD Gross Adds across U.S. distributors increased +3pts, from 8% to 11%, with a total volume increase of 66%. Distribution via Channels Environments increased +2pts, with a total volume increase of 37%, while Direct distribution increased +3pts with a volume increase of 36%. In contrast, the share of App Stores declined -8pts between Q1’23 and Q1’26, with a decrease in total volume of 18%, indicating Roku’s gains are coming from App Stores.

With FOX's planned acquisition of Roku announced just days ago, it's too soon to know how the deal will reshape the broader streaming landscape. But the data illustrates that Roku enters this moment punching above its weight, gaining share faster than other distribution segments in the U.S. streaming market.
